Lowered mono leaf or spring pack

Hey I need your guys opinion. I just ordered a set of 4" mono lowering leafs from GMCPauls and Im wondering if they are actually any better than lowering leaf packs. Just wanted to know what you guys are running.
Also I am wondering if I install 2" shackles will I have to cut a notch in the bottom of the bed cross member. I have a 1972 lwb. Thanks in advance.
