Power Brake Booster Swap 1 ton -> 1/2 ton

I have a full setup - master, booster, proportioning valve and brackets and would like to upgrade my 71 disc/drum manual setup to a power option. From what I read here - the booster should be the same (Delco-Moraine), just add my master cylinder.

If that is true, which proportioning valve should I use - the 1/2 ton?

Thanks,

Frank

Re: Power Brake Booster Swap 1 ton -> 1/2 ton

Are you swapping to 1/2 ton components? If you are the only differences in the prop valves to my knowledge are pipes and their routing from the m/c. A 3/4 and 1 ton have pipe that supplies the rearbrakes from front pot on m/c and the rear pot supplies the front brakes. The prop valves are the same. Many use the dual diaphram booster off the 3/4 and 1 ton as it gives a better stop feel than the single diaphram of the 1/2 ton. If you have power components already leave that section alone and just swap your heavy rotors hubs etc to the 1/2 ton parts- I will assume you are doing so for wheel choices? In any case, there is no need to swap the upper parts, just ball joints, rotors, spindles, calipers and bearings. What are you going to do about the rear axles? redrill? hope this helps.

Re: Power Brake Booster Swap 1 ton -> 1/2 ton

Just reread, yes just reuse your 1/2 ton parts, will bolt directly to the larger booster.
