chevy 4X4

Any one ever see a 4X4 with a three on tree manual trans? Let me Know your thoughts. Love old Chevys!!!

Would 3 on the tree parts for a burb be any different than for trucks? Or is it they just didn't sell that many 3 on the tree transmissions? Just wondering.

The three speed for 4x4s looks like a typical three speed, until you put it next to one.
It is about 25% larger and the gears are much thicker.

We just assumed they were all the same until we started rebuilding it.
Found the parts in California, and they had the only one book that showed it.

This is only the 3rd I have even heard about.

Are you sure about this? Its not the difference between a synchro and non synchro, is it? I am unaware of any differences between 4x4 and 2wd trans other than outputs of course...

My 72 K10 Burb had a 3 on the tree, have since replaced it with a 700r.

When I got my truck it was a 3-on-the-tree 4x4. It was a great theft deterrent because even my most seasoned manual transmission truck driving buddies had difficulty with it but a turd at the boat landing and in stop-an-go traffic.

One of the best things I did for my truck is find a used th350 and NP205 and swapped them.
