52 chevy 4x4
Ok I have been researching and reading and looking and researching and reading and looking about if i want to go with a sub frame or s10 swap but after much stress and thinking about this i think i will just leave my truck as is only i want to change the 3/4 ton 4x4 suspension to 1/2 ton 4x4 suspension, this truck was a 1.5 ton flat bed before someone changed it to 3/4 ton so the frame is original and my question is, can a newer 81 to 87 1/2 ton 4x4 suspension used plus i will be shorting the bed and frame to short wheel base, any suggestions and things i should know on this build?

Re: 52 chevy 4x4
so the frame is original, they just added the spring mounts and crossmembers?
What is your final outcome gong to be, what are you looking to change? diy4x.com makes a lot of nice parts for 4x4's...

Re: 52 chevy 4x4
yes you are correct, i been checking it out as weather permits, from the looks of things the change to the suspension was not a good one, it was not done they way it should have been...hopefully the weather will give so i can crawl around under it a little more and see what i am dealing with.

as for the outcome, i was originally going to go with a s10 frame then i changed my mind to do a sub frame and after much stress i have changed my mind to do a 4x4 lol...i am searching for the donor truck to swap the front and rear suspension out to 1/2 ton 6 lug set up and then up grade the engine to a v8

Here is a few more pictures that I recently took of this monster, if anyone can figure what the bed came from please let me know. and also the front and rear suspension, is it dana 60 or? idk yet, it is 8 lug 3/4 ton i do know that, either way they are coming out and will be sold off with the wheels and transfer case plus the straight 6 mother and tranny is going to.

Re: 52 chevy 4x4
It's too bad the PO did not do a proper job when making it a 4x4. Now that you have it, you can mod it so everything is chevy and is modidied so it doesn't look thrown together.
