Re: Problems installing Edelbrock 1406
I would too. Thing is with the screws you need a vacuum gauge, tune it for the most vac. and be done with it. The factory quadrajets can be tuned the same way, they just have caps over the screws.
Our 84 started starving for gas and messing up, we put on an edelbrock and fixed it. I've had several of them on vehicles and loved them all.

Re: Problems installing Edelbrock 1406
just got my 82 on the road, runs very well but I'm not certain the secondarys are working. Stomped on it a couple times, it goes pretty good and accelerates ok, but I can't hear or feel the secondaries kicking in. Been some years since I've even had a carbed vehicle, so I'm not even sure if it's working right. Runs so good I hate to mess with it, however I switched all my q-jets or Holley carbs to 1406s in the past, so I'm wondering if I ought to start thinking about that again. And if the 600 might be a little small on a stock 454. I think the q-jet is an 880 or something like that. First time out I got 7.5 mpg with it. yay. I think I want a 700r4.

I love my 700r4. Overbuilt durable and great start off the line a plus in towing and having overdrive is a major plus.
