55-57 rear ends

So what rear ends are everyone running on the stock width frame on 55-57 trucks? I want to pull out the stocker and find something that I can use that will maybe allow me to mount a larger wheel/tire combo without modifying frame or wheel tubs. I am running camaro front suspension so the bolt pattern will have to match it.

Re: 55-57 rear ends

I went to a 69 chevelle 10 bolt to keep the stock width.

Re: 55-57 rear ends

the problem is, with out tubing the inter fender 8" wheels is it. You can put a big wheel on with out moding the frame, but you will need to cut the inter fender.

Re: 55-57 rear ends

I'm running a 72 camaro rear axle. Had to weld on some spring perches, but the width is perfect for my setup. Plus if you can find a later model WS6 trans am version it will have rear disks.

I don't mind cutting the inner box panel out. I just don't want to have to cut the frame.

I have a 79 Firebird under mine. It is almost the same width & has the bolt pattern for all the GM intermidiates.
