It's time to buy BBC headers
I would like to run my exhaust on the outside of the frame rails. So I"m asking if long tube headers will be too long to route the exhaust pipe to the outside of the frame. If so, has anyone used a mid-length header or am I stuck with shorties.
Thanks |

Re: It's time to buy BBC headers
I have a set of 68 camaro nova headers on my 66 gmc, it is not finished yet but here are pictures of them above and below the frame, I am contemplating routing my exhaust outside of the frame also.......Kieth
passenger side top view: http://kieth.smugmug.com/Trucks/66-G...53807394_36sMS drivers side bottom view: http://kieth.smugmug.com/Trucks/66-G...39503970_g7MqS I think it would be easy to route the exhaust to the outside of the frame with this style header (we did have to shave the top of the frame on the passenger side, and shave alittle of the motor mount on the drivers side but they really fit close to the block and leave plenty of room for automatic shifter linkage, etc. Kieth ps these headers have really heavy flanges , are coated , and only cost $225.00 Last edited by kieth; 01-12-2011 at 11:58 AM. |

Re: It's time to buy BBC headers
Keith
I'm hoping I can turn the exhaust pipe outside the frame before the frame flattens out so that will be determend by the length of the headers. I was hoping I could find someone on the site that has worked this out. I would just put the engine in and do some measurements but the engine is at the machine shop right know and I'm ready to order things now. Your truck is lookin great. Thanks Keith |
