Re: SWB or LWB?

Gary - I was making a joke brother! Relax and be assured that I have never been more focused on an outcome, I can see the finished truck in my mind and I have written it all out. I just wanted to explore the option of shortening a lwb to save some money. There are a couple '70s in the area and I need to take a look before laying out any money.

Hey, Im all for jokin around! And, I understand why you want a truck from your birth year...Afterall, I always tell people that I'm a '66 model.

Re: SWB or LWB?

Keep in mind while your looking that some rust is common, and economical to repair. Others areas, like the drip rail area is not. I suggest you buy as clean a truck as you can afford and save a LOT of money on repairs later.

Re: SWB or LWB?

Bought the '70 short n wide on the 73-87 chassis. I hope to pick it up late next week. I have known the seller for about 15 years, he is an old hot rod builder and every car he's built has been very nice. I'll post pictures as soon as I pick it up.

Now that's funny! I'll be like a kid waiting for Christmas until I pick it up, even though it is really just a pile of parts right now. Shouldn't take long to whip it into shape though.

That sucks. I just sold a '71 cheyenne for $200 in november that I wouldve brought to you for a couple bucks and you couldve parted it. My aunt lives in florida. DAMN!

Re: SWB or LWB?

You're right Matt, I suspect it will be a few years to get to the "finished" truck. And I know it will never really be finished. I can't wait to get started though.

Re: SWB or LWB?

glad you got something like you wanted, and i'm glad this didn't turn into a lwb vs swb debate........................... there is still alot of these trucks around no sence not getting what you want within reason.

Shes up by lauderdale right now. Her address is jensen beach, but she sails the boat up and down the coast a lot.

Re: SWB or LWB?

Well personally i love lowered longbeds... they look way cool... swb's are nice too, but they dont appeal to me as much as lowered lwb's. here's my pair of lwb's

top one 72' Chevy Custom Deluxe 10 lwb lowered, rallies and whitewalls... i think this thing looks really cool rolling down the street, bottom is a 68' GMC 1500 Custom, 396/400, dana limited slip, bucket seats... great truck. planning to lower a bit more the back, has too much rake for my taste right now.
