Smile Undercoating Questions

Happy New Year to all,

I have a few questions about undercoatings;

What undercoating will give me the closest look to original?

Were the front fender wells undercoated the same as the rears?

Is it best to sand blast the areas before appling the undercoating?

If so, should I apply a chemical rust proofing after sandblasting are not at all?

I have been appling Napa's rust preventive before painting and it seems to work well. Is their a better product I should be using?

I finished the rearend this past summer, what do you think?

Thank you all for your help the past year,
Guy

Re: Undercoating Questions

Hey Guy I don't see any response to your questions, My 72 blazer had undercoating on front and back fender wells, and under hood. I have been removing it slowly with kerosene and scraper. I plan to replace it with a smooth polyuretane undercoat. I don't know what the old stuff was. Your truck build looks great. hope that helps.....Ed

Re: Undercoating Questions

My `70 C-20 came from Georgia and was undercoated in front and rear wheel wells and under the cab just from the frame out to and including the inside rocker panels.There was nothing under the hood. I used an undercoating called Rust Free (not sure if I spelled that right), it looks like what was on my truck originally. I hope this helps.

Re: Undercoating Questions

mine has it inside the door as well. it would crumble off and plug the holes in the bottom and no water could run out and my doors are very rusty because of this. will never put it back there.
