Which Sender?
Alright, I have searched and I can't seem to find the answer I am looking for.......
I put new gauges in the 65 and now I guess I need to switch the sending unit in the tank(in cab) to a 0/90 ohm. What is the easiest replacement unit for these trucks. I don't want the resistor option. I'd rather have a good linear signal from the gauge so I can calculate how much gas I'm wasting doing cookies and burnouts. LOL Any help would be greatly appreciated. I know there have been threads on this before, but in most cases guys are going to a rear mount tank. I'm keeping the stock tank for now. Cheers

Re: Which Sender?
When I first started working on my truck I installed a full set of VDO gauges with the original tank in the cab. I simply used the compatible VDO sending unit that matched the gauge, modified to fit the stock tank. As best I remember I used the sending unit "lid" from the stock gas tank, removed the old sending mechanism, then bent the new sender to hang correctly and attached it to the stock lid. The new sending unit came with directions on how to set it up to read the tank correctly. I had to go through this all over again when I switched to Autometer gauges.

Re: Which Sender?
are they stock gauges or after market? I used som cheep sun white face gagues for temp oil and volt, an Autometter speedo and a 30ohm fulel gauge.
The 30ohm autometter let me use the original sender.

Re: Which Sender?
I just put new gauges in my truck also (Autometers too). I bought a new 0-30 ohm gauge. If it's available in the type of gauges you bought that might be your best option.

Re: Which Sender?
You could replace your original sending unit with a later model one that is 0-90 ohms. I'm talking about the sender itself that is soldered to the pickup tube. I believe GM went to the 0-90 ohms in '67?
Or you could contact Vin63 about building one for you.
