'64 GMC Steering Wheel Diagram?

When I pulled the steering wheel off last weekend a small, split, cylindrical bushing feel out of the back of the wheel as I was about to lay the wheel down on the truck seat. Does this bushing go inside the opening on the back side of the wheel? Or do I slip it down on the column shaft? It seems like it may come into contact with the horn contact ring and possibly distort the ring and/or the upper column bushing as I torque down the wheel upon re-install. One end of this bushing is tapered. Taper up or taper down when re-installed? I'll go out and take an image or two of this bushing. An original assembly diagram would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Here is an image of the bushing. Notice the tapered end.

I believe that is the turn signal canceling cam.

Methinks the canceling cam is black plastic and still screwed to the back of the wheel. This piece is thin metal.
