Re: the Fawn interior....

As I understand it, for the first half or so of the 1967 production year all
the pickups had the same fawn interior. You only had a choice of
exterior paint color. I haven't been able to find a source for seat covers yet but I'm fine with driving it with the seats as is. I was considering maybe taking the seat covers off, maybe replacing the foam and trying to seal the cracks from behind.

Opinions?

Metallica,

Like I said...no documentation on the fact...just my understanding.
I'll keep looking for something more conclusive.

I haven't checked for a build date on my truck. Without a firewall tag
I wouldn't know where to look. How did you know your build date?

I was almost 16 years old when your truck was being made.
If my old memory serves, GM would have introduced their new line
of 1967 vehicles for sale somewhere about September/ October of 1966.

Thanks for askin' Not as much as I 'd like.

It took a while to figure out what number sequences would be correct
for a '67 issue Black California Commercial license plates.
I found a pair but the local independent DMV office that I usually work
with wouldn't process them. It seems that the Sacramento has issues with the
"63" embossed numbers in the upper right corner of most black plates.

Somewhere in '67-'68 they stopped stamping the "63" in the corner.
Don't know why. My '69 Nova and Chevelle both have their original black plates
and there's no "63" stamp.

There is absolutely NOTHING in the new YOM "Year of Manufacture" code that
even mention plates needing the "63" stamp...but according to my local independent
DMV shop even if they process them, Sacramento sends them back.
So I tried getting them registered at the local State DMV office and it they did it
without any questions. It's been about 3 weeks and I haven't heard anything yet.
Got my fingers crossed.

Interesting how DMV works. What did you mean by "local independent DMV shop " ?
I had an employee at AAA club, wanted to confiscate a set of Black Plates on a 64 Dodge truck I just bought. Those plates were original issue and I had Calif non-op paper work along with the pink.
I politely told her "wrong" . She went away to check , humbly came back and issued the registration in my name.
I have a 68 Chev C10 , just went out to my cold shop and checked the black plates, yep stamped 63.

Locally we have several independent "Department of Motor Vehicles
service" offices. Privately owned offfices authorized by the state
to do most DMV services. I use Tony's DMV services here in Arcadia, CA.
It's literally a trailer in a junk yard with 2 girls at desks. If there is a line it's usually very short. Most of the the time you can just walk and be served.
Unlike the DMV or AAA they seem to look out for the hobbyist. For example....they never question the price you report that you paid for a vehicle and they do their best to get things worked out in your favor.
