what engine should I do

So I have a 72k5 4x4, It is my DD now. I am going to tear it apart, make it nice and return it back to daily driver status( this is my choice instead of getting a new truck) so Which of the 3 engine trans combos do you all like

GMPP ZZ383 with edelbrock efi and a 700r4 (the easiest install)

96 to 98 gm 350 vortech engine and trans up grade (moderate install)

or Gm LS 6.0 and trans assy (most difficult)

I will have a 25k budgett for the whole blazer.

I am getting 8 mpg right now so I am figuring at least 15 with any of the combos listed, what do you think

Re: what engine should I do

For reliability and cost, I would go with the vortec, with tbi injection, and a 700r4. Whatever you decide, make shure you go roller cam, as the addatives are missing in the new oils to keep a flat tappet cam alive.

LS 6.0L w/ 4L80e - NP205.... most work but best results... this is my plan anyway...

You budget is subjective and depends on the condition of the body and paint and how nice you the paint....

Re: what engine should I do

I have a 330 hp 350 crate motor in my Blazer, with a 700r4. Rear gear is ??? I love my combination! The engine makes good power, idles smooth, and is a bolt for bolt swap. I believe in the KISS method. I own an auto repair shop, and we deal late model electronics every day. My Blazer has a 600 holley, and it will sit for weeks at a time, and ALWAYS starts. Never disapointed when I drive it. here are a few pics

Re: what engine should I do

I have a 40smb with a 4 speed/w a 205 and 3.73 gear pulling down 11mpg on 35's. I will be doing a 5.3 or 6.0 swap when I tear mine down. I have been a part of many LS swaps and you cant beat them for power/reliability.

The body work will be good, I grew up with a body man a father so I have little tolerance for bad body work in my stuff, but I can do it myself. I saw the ls in your chevelle, I have a 67 velle also, you are doing good work there,

Re: what engine should I do

I would stay a bit old school with modern EFI.
So Like a 454 with aftermarket EFI mated to a NV4500 for that 5th gear..or if you want Auto the TH400 has allways been good behind the 454..
BBC for Life!
Good Luck and take Pics!

Re: what engine should I do

How about a 400sbc with a TPI and a 700r4. I did a tpi and its amazing in economy and torque. I wouldnt go LS, I would go efi.
