Should i run into serious mods with 2.5 or 3inch z. I've heard that 4 inch creates many problems. Trying to lay out with 2.5 drop spindles bags and z'd frame. Will I have to cut trans/ driveshaft tunnel for any amount of Z I do?

Search, search, search, man. Don't go anything past 3" you'll be in a lot of trouble then. Im not sure on the trans tunnel, maybe have to run a high hump trans pan from a 4x4?

3" is the way to go or a dropped crossmember.

by lay out what do you mean do you mean frame, pinch weld, or rocker

you can lay the frame or pinch with a 3" Z. If you want to lay the pinchweld you will need to cut off about an inch and a half off the bottom of the frame right under the cab about where your feet are.

It would help if you told us what year truck, and SWB or LWB.

Mine with a 2.5 Z made in the new frame, illl look for a better pic..

Could have went lower but i left room for oops's and i didnt grind the truck to a nub before i got stopped.

I guess a better question would be, If the frame is on the ground, how low is the body?

time is money...i'd invest in drop member and let the cnc machine do the measuring...

if you have the coin a drop member would be the better option.

but if not (like most of us), there is nothing wrong with a z if you do it right. 3" should lay the frame with your setup. just dont do like the guy that had a 6" z..lol

That is correct, "If you do it right". Most I have seen are not done right.

3" Z and 1.5" off the bottom of the frame, the curved part under the cab and it will lay pinch weld. Thats pretty simple..

I am going to stick with the 3in Z, and drop spindles and see how low that is before I start cutting any more frame away. Thanks for all the info from everyone.
