Well, for one reason the prices are awesome when compared to other older American steel. Just checking out this site (I've got nothing to do with it) - http://02bb514.netsolstores.com/classicmusclecars.aspx

A mess of a '67 El Camino - $15k +
A nice original '67 SS Camaro - $38K
A '68 c10 - nice shape - $8k +

shhhh...don't tell tell anyone - but these trucks are the best value in classics!

They are the best looking trucks ever built in America by any manufacture. They're dependable workhorses or can be show stoppers also. Personally I think they drive and ride as a truck should. Did I mention they look great!

I disagree. You need to compare apples to apples. Camaros and El Caminos are not the same fruit. These trucks hold the highest dollar value of any early GM Truck,which are the highest priced and most coveted trucks out there. You need to look farther and wider,anyway,to make a fair comparison. One site with a handful of vehicles doesn't tell the true story.

If a cheaper price is a reason to love these trucks,then you gotta love an '85 Nissan Stanza

Now there's a cheap classic!

Yes...you are probably right - and while I like the idea of my truck appreciating in value - I'd rather keep it low key. It's kinda cool the guys (and gals) can jump in at a $1k bucks and drive around in a piece of history (and look cool doing it). I think things change when the entry fee for a classic, running vehicle is above the $12k range. Right now these trucks offer the best of all worlds - you can find a running one for $1k (may not look pretty) and you can also have a really sweet machine valued at $30K (and up). Anyway, keep 'em rolling.

I couldn't have said it better myself. I think a medium blue and white 72 longbed is as good as it gets!

yes sooner or later these wil be collector trucks and the parts will be harder to find there is already a shortage of 67 passenger fenders!

I agree with you 100% and could not have said it better myself. The other thing I like about our trucks is that there are so many different configurations of them, in other words there is an a** for every seat....

i think another reason that they are sooo popular is that they are so easy to repair/work on! body panels are cake to replace compared to a car, there was not really much of a difference in the whole production run so so many parts are interchangable that i keeps the cost down, styling that was WAY ahead of its time them seemed to disappear! plus they ride and drive so dang nice that they really cant be beat! ohh and they are custmizable to do anthing, except fly maybe!!!! i hope to retire of my Jimmy and pass along my 68!

that plus i know that within the past 10 years 67-72 gm trucks where on the top 10 stolen vehicles list in the state of Texas i know that not what alot of people want to hear but on the same note what does that say about these trucks

I have been building mine for 2 years!

When I began the restoration, seeing one on the road in pristeen condition was rare. Most were being abused by landscapers. In the last two months, I have seen 6 2WD, and 2 4x4's, in newly restored/ custom condition. These trucks are on the road, not trailer queens.

I believe we are sitting on gold mines.

I was a car guy until I bought this Big Block GMC. I love this truck! Sometimes I just sit and stare at it. I'm glad I found this forum too!
