02 GMC Troubles
My 02 GMC runs like crap while it is cold outside(20 degrees and below). The idle is at 600ish and will drop to 300 and then go back up to 600 for a few seconds then drop, just repeating this procedure. It will surge at around a 1000-1200 rpms while in gear driving to, dropping a few hundred then going back up. It will trip two codes unless i don't clear them, then it'll trip another 2. the two common codes are right and left bank lean. then it sometimes trips multiple misfire and poor idle codes. the o2 sensors are original i believe, intake gaskets are original, egr is original. Has about 98k on the truck. It will not do this during summer when it is warmer, just during winter, so I was wondering if anybody has any suggestions to test for problems, or have run into this problem, etc. The truck is a 5.3 with automatic. thanks

Re: 02 GMC Troubles
I would start with new plugs, wires and replace 2 primary o2's(ones in front of the cats). as it gets colder, the air is denser. if your 02's are going out, they'll have a tougher time reading correctly

Re: 02 GMC Troubles
personally, i'd also run injector cleaner through it, because if there is anything in there, you'll notice a difference with a bottle of that run through.

Re: 02 GMC Troubles
my 02 was doing the same thing, for 2 winters it has, summers runs fine.....what i did that has helped mine was to snug, and i say snug the intake mounting bolts, it made a world of difference in cold weather.
