Hello
Hello from Florida. Just wanted to introduce myself and show my recent purchase, a 1965 short bed. I have been reading up on all post's that have been posted for about six months now. You guys have given me the inspiration and courage to tackle this project. The truck came less engine and transmission - and the all to common rust issues around rockers, cab corners and outer floors. My goal is to repair the rust and install an Oldsmobile 455 with a turbo 400 that was taken out of my Cutlass. That engine pushed the Cutlass to a 13:28 at 98mph in the quarter and should be a fun power plant for the C-10. Please keep the info coming as I have bitten off a big chunk of "What the hell was I thinking?" as far as over estimating my experience, knowledge and abilities. This will be my second engine install, my first time with bodywork and welding. Thanks for the time Bill.

Re: Hello
Interesting project. You don't see that many Olds engines, at least now a days, used in this style truck.
I'm scribed .... Keep us posted on the progress. Ratty 46 |

Re: Hello
Wow! Very, very good eye! yes it is mine. Had it about three years now. When I got the car it was about 85% restored. I had a local guy finish it. If you want I can post a pic or two of it. it's pretty sweet car.

Re: Hello
Protrash64, the engine that went back into the Cutlass ran 11:30 @ 118mph, It too has drum breaks! only got to run it ounce and they said no more until cage.
Here are some pictures of the Forty one. It is a model 120 straight eight with overdrive. Ok 62shortstep, what year is the other Packard in the background? If you get the year and model, you will be THE MAN! |

Re: Hello
The picture is a bit fuzzy and small, but it looks like a '53 Patrician.
The '41 is S-W-E-E-T! Sorry for the distraction from your main thread. I love stock old cars and trucks! |

Re: Hello
Very good. It's a 53 Cavalier. I give you full "The man" credits. I Believe the Only difference between the Patrician and Cavalier was the trim. The Patrician was a nicer package. Hey, I like to talk about any AMERICAN automobiles...no distraction. The truck build will be slow going. Work and $$ is slow coming these days. plus, I only have half a clue what I'm doing. Thanks to all that replied.
