LS Gen III attached to a 3 speed?

I know another LS motor swap question

Does anyone know if the LS engine will bolt up to a 3 On The Tree tranny?

The other questions on a motor swap are covered fairly well, except this.

... Yah, I like the old 3 speed.

The current 350 is sick and dying. A proper rebuild will run more than a motor swap from what I can tell.

Thanks!!!

PS: I lurk here a lot, but look for mild restoration to start in the spring. The I will be posting more often.

Re: LS Gen III attached to a 3 speed?

It will physically bolt up with the exception of one bellhousing bolt. You'll have to change the clutch, and figure out a way to mount the clutch z-bar, as there isn't a provision for the pivot stud. I have not personally done it, but have seen Muncie 4 speeds behind LS engines. You might try a search for "Muncie 4 speed" on www.ls1tech.com, you,ll find something there that would help I'm sure.
