Limited Slip in the Front?

Did Chevy or GMC ever offer limited slip in the front axle on our trucks? When I was a kid a local guy had a 1970 LWB 3/4 that he said had a posi in the front.I don't know if it was stock, but it was the baddest truck around!

Re: Limited Slip in the Front?

Yes, a front Eaton limited slip was available on some 4X4s as a factory option. I have seen several SPIDs with the front limited slip listed.

Re: Limited Slip in the Front?

Now there's a new option on me: single speed rear? I have always wanted to locate a two speed 1t rear. I remember riding in an IH 1t wrecker that had one and have wanted one ever since. How cool would that be in my '71 C/30?
Sorry for the 'jack. That just really struck a nerve (a good one).

yes-option number 9501AA if memory serves me correctly. i've only seen one and I own it . not too common out here but i'm sure mountain states and rustbelt areas see a few more.

What is a single speed rear? Compared to a say a 4:10...I just might want one now

That's what I was asking about. All rears that we know of are single speed. Medium duties can have 2spd rears and I've seen one in a 1t International.

Re: Limited Slip in the Front?

Right. So,even if light duties could be had with 2spds,that would be the "option". Not a single speed rear. It must be something else, but what?
