3/4 ton and 1/2 ton cab mounts
Ive been unable to determine so far if my truck is a 1/2 or 3/4 ton. I thought I had read somewhere that there were different mounts for the 3/4 and 1/2 ton cabs. If this is the case id love to see pics of each, that way I will know for sure. If not is there any other fairly easy way to tell.

Re: 3/4 ton and 1/2 ton cab mounts
The easiest way to tell is whether you have 6 lug wheels, or 8 lug wheels. 6 lug wheels (or 5 lug if someone has changed them out) are 1/2 ton, 8 lug are 3/4 ton.
If you know that and are asking specifically about the cab mounts, someone else will have to show you pics as I am unsure myself. |

Thank you. I believe my question has been answered based on Vin. I do have 5 lug conversion all the way around but still has the drums.

Re: 3/4 ton and 1/2 ton cab mounts
Vin may not be reliable. Cabs are changed alot. 2 other ways to tell are the cab mounts. 1/2 ton have round rubber bushings at the 4 mounts. The 3/4 ton has a different mount at the rear part of the cab. I dont have any pics at the time. The other way to tell is if the frame has 2 brackets at the frame crossmember where the driveshaft goes through. These brackets go out from the center of the crossmenber to the framerails in the forward direction. Towards the front of the truck.

3/4 ton mounts... different from 1/2 so if you have these they are 3/4!
front mounts are the same as 1/2

Re: 3/4 ton and 1/2 ton cab mounts
Mine are like square pieces with a round rubber on top of them at the back. they sit on top of the frame rail.
EDIT: Like that last picture, thank you. Really as far as modifying the frame does it matter either way? Are the cabs or anything else bigger or otherwise different on the 3/4 ton? Last edited by smilts60; 01-25-2011 at 07:15 PM. |

Re: 3/4 ton and 1/2 ton cab mounts
the actual 3/4 ton frame is sturdier-thicker , but other than that it is mostly the same.. a 3/4 ton cab and 1/2 ton cab are exactly the same.. the vin plate and data plates will denote the heavier weight, but that is it.
