What should i offer on a 79 front end or whole rolling truck????

I found a 5 lug truck without a motor and trans and the guy wants it gone but says make me a offer. I dont know if hed sell me the front end alone or have to buy the whole truck. What should i offer for the front end if i can or for the whole truck??? What do i all need from the donor truck to do the swap in my 69? Just a general price range would be awesome because im sure he had his own idea of what its worth.
Thanks in advance.

Some guys pull the whole crossmember and others get everything but. When I did my swap I got the arms, spindles, centerlink and booster/master. I wasn't worried about the tie-rods and idler arm because I was replacing them. You can use your existing arms and just swap in ball joints for the 79 to make the 79 spindles work or you can swap out your arms for the 79's. Your pitman arm will need to stay from the 69 and will work with the 79 centerlink. I'd get the sway bar too if it has one. I got a deal on my front end and only paid $50. Offer him $500 for the whole truck and see what he says.

I was thinking about offering him 100 for the whole front end and see what he says. Isnt it easier to drop the oil pan with the newer crossmember?

Re: What should i offer on a 79 front end or whole rolling truck????

I think it is but not 100%. I still have my factory crossmember and whenever I had to pull the pan it always hit the flywheel unless the mounts were loosened and the motor was raised. I re-read your post and now realize that it doesn't have a motor and transmission, so I might be a little high with my estimate. Although, $100 sounds good for the front end. Does it have the booster and m/c, too?

Re: What should i offer on a 79 front end or whole rolling truck????

He told me all he took out was the motor and tranny and everything else works fine. Im going to call him tomorrow to see what hes looking for it, i wouldnt mind getting the whole truck cause i would part it out but then i would have to find a way to get it on the trailer then off of the trailer at the farm. If i just got the front crossmember i could just bring the trailer and be good.

Since the motor is out, I would just grab the complete crossmember.
