Someone cut together ALL the scenes with the car and pryor/carvey, but the language is pretty strong at the end, so I'll just post the search... copy and past "Richard Pryor - Moving (schizophrenia montage) " in youtube and it should be the first thing to pop up, it's 6:03 long.

Of course you can always leave it behind with a friend..
then when you get to Kansas book a cheap flight back for YOU..
Drive it to Kansas yourself in a week or two of settling in..

At least there's no worries of handing it off to someone else.. and you save any fees or payments.

If you stick to the Interstates and it's usually cleared as it falls or shortly after.

Unless its dumping in which case the pass could have to close anywhere from 4 to 24 hours depending on how bad the storm is and how long it lasts ect. Don't know about you but if i was looking at a 3 day blast from Wa to kansas i wouldn't want to loose any time stuck on a pass somwhere and possibly risk my standing with a new employeer, especially after relocating the whole family.

Heck in some areas it dosn't even have to be a pass to end up getting closed in a storm, trust me i live close to 5 different passes and deal with it every year.. Wait untill summer, besides the views are outstanding in the summer.

If everyone waited until summer to drive the Northern interstates.. no trucking or travel would be accomplished.

Weather channels with 10 day forecasts are pretty accurate these days.
Don't know about YOU.. but not checking the weather before trying to drive a storm that would be pretty foolish.

I'm sure the weather forcasts are real accurate in Los Angeles. I'm also sure your travel times don't vary a whole lot in november or december there ether.

Its a lot different when your doing your job driving a semi than it is taking time away from your job and ya gotta be back on monday.

Lets not forget that you have to also buy a plane ticket if your flying to go get the truck, ya cant allways buy one on short notice to follow the weather forcast.

This post is my last on this subject because its not really helping the guy figure out what to do.. Have fun in sunny Ca.

Find a place to store the truck most reliable to drive from WA to KS, fly back on a Thursday (redeye) then do a bonzai run in 2/3 days. I would wait till spring to do the drive though.

Well, it's nice that it's your last on the subject.. this is mine.

I didn't always live in Los Angeles.. I spent 30 years based in Western New York where snow drifts can be 10 feet deep.
I too have driven back and forth across this country .. about 20 times so far.
Many times during the winter months..
I've yet to get caught in any winter storm.. maybe it's luck.. maybe I'm sharp enough to read a weather report..

But you're right, this isn't helping the thread, nor is attacking each other..
So why don't you have fun too.. that's what the forum's about.

Re: Is it possible? Get my truck from WA to KS?

Well to update this thread.

I ended up pulling the 68 behind my suburban the whole way. Not too exciting. I did have a tire start to leak cause I ran over a nail, but got that quickly fixed. Then as I'm driving up a pass (in 4wd) i started to spin and shifted over 3 feet twice. We were going about 25 mph at the time and no damage except extra pucker factor.

As for the 69, my new employer paid to have the truck shipped to me. It hasn't actually showed up, it's in Kansas City right now, but will be delivered on Friday. So it all should work out fine

So you're in Topeka now? I think I recall that's where you said you were moving to. I'm going to be going to Topeka in a couple of weeks, and I'd like to see your truck sometime. I'm just east of KC a few miles.

Yeah, Topeka

Hopefully it warms up in a few weeks and I can get the truck out of the garage. I haven't even washed it (the '68 that is) yet since the trip cause it's been so cold (and busy with unpacking and everything else).

Maybe we should get a local truck board member get together arranged.
