what is this piece on the firewall?

Is this where the inner fender bolts up to? If so, I guess I need to source one for the passenger side.

That is where the inner fender bolts up. There isn't one on the pass. Side. You're good to go.

I agree with chev3600, but find it funny that i thought the same thing on my truck when i had it tore down. I had convienced myself that i threw it away during the tear down and was looking for one but could not find it.But anyway youre good to go with what ya got.

I was making my firewall flush last night, and was making a mental note that I also needed to address the kick panel when I saw that bracket. like you rooster, I was like...Damn it! there is something else I have to find and buy. I looked on the back of the inner fender on the passenger side to make sure I didn't leave it attached. glad to know it is just with one side. odd that is just one side.

It's an inner fender panel mount and also supports the floor mounted E-Brake.

I don't understand why they had them on the early ones with the hand brake but they had them! I threw one away once as well. Now I keep them when I part trucks out! Of course, I'm down to my last one!!

Yep, one of those where the heck did I put that things on these trucks. I think a lot of us have had to dig and hunt for one when we put the truck back together after having it apart.

I know they are only meant to have the one at the drivers side but why is it nearly all the trucks I've seen seem to have more extensive rust on the passenger side toeboard to some degree, whereas the drivers side seems to be less affected?
Mine included.

You'd think the drivers side would be more of a dirt/moisture trap due to the bracket.....
I wonder if there's a connection?

Any theories or suggestions are welcomed.

Due to the crown of the roads for drainage, the puddles and salt and stuff ends up on the right side of the lane. Maybe?
If not that then it's something to do with the shift of the moon and voodoo.

chev3600, I guess that's one theory I overlooked, don't forget we drive on the wrong side of the road here!

Great...now i've got my truck over here I can rot the drivers side out to match.....
