Wheel and Tire / Drop questions

What's going on guys .. I have been a fan of this site for a long, long time but until last Sat I just didn't have a truck so I never registered.

I am now the proud owner a 69 short step frame off project a guy was working on and couldn't finish. I have a nice 69 Big Block just waiting to go in it. I'll post build pics as soon as I can.

I have a question about wheel / tire setup, and the right drop to make it all look right. What do you guys run on the SWB step trucks? I think you can get more tire under a fleetside as I have read (?) Just need some help with the offset and wheel / tire combo. I'm thinking 18's all the way around, or possibly 18/20. I like a little tire and I'm not sure 20's would leave enough sidewall for my personal taste.

Any suggestions? Maybe some pictures with wheel / tire size and what backspace you're running? I like the Coys wheels, Boss 338, Rocket, etc.

I posted this in suspension too since it ha to do with the drop, etc. I'm new .. not sure where to post what just yet.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Wheel and Tire / Drop questions

Thanks for the pics and the help. Incredible looking trucks guys. If mine looks half this good I'll be a happy man.

Both these trucks being fleet sides... Will the same size rear fit on a stepside? I'm afraid the bedsides might be a little tight if I'm not super careful on the backspacing. Ideally I want to get as much tire under it as I can, obviously without rubbing. The best I can tell I have 5.75" max between the outer mounting flange / hub of the rear brake drum to the outer edge of the bedside.

I think I will do 18/20's These trucks look great. I'm an old Camaro guy, I have restored several with what I thought was the right stance. I have never setup a C10 truck before and it looks like you guys have nailed it, no doubt !
