Re: Rear drum 6 to 5 lug
Im going to either get my truck someplace dry this weekend or just crawl around in the snow and measure them. There isnt a business up here that has anything of this era in stock so I have to ship everything so right on the first try is my goal.

take the rear axles to a machine shop, have the centers turned down to accept a 71 c10 rear drum (5 hole),,cut off the 6 studs, and redrill the axle for 5X5 bolt pattern, I changed the front end out with a 91 suburban and got disc brakes and 5x5 lugs on the front for $500.00 The machine work on the rear axles cost $80.00 .... The alternative is go to CPP and others and they sell axle conversion kits with new axles, drums, etc. Kieth ![]() Here is a link that shows the modified rear axle hubs on my 66 gmc, if you will look thru the whole gallery you will also see what it took to change out the front crossmember from the 91 burb to get disc brakes and 5 axle hubs. http://kieth.smugmug.com/Trucks/66-G...30244686_ZfxoQ Last edited by kieth; 01-28-2011 at 12:14 PM. |
