1999 Tahoe not going into gear

Help I just finished replacing the power booster on my sons 99 tahoe 4x4 w/ automatic. I slipped off the booster w/o disconecting the master cylinder, did have trouble getting the retaining clip off the pedal that holds the push rod and brake switch, but now after it starts i cannot get it to go into gear, its jamed in park and will not budge I press the pedal down but nothing. Did I miss something?

Re: 1999 Tahoe not going into gear

Sounds like you knocked something off in the Brake Transmission Shift Interlock system while you were struggling with that clip. Most likely the cable that connects to the column or the pedal. You can override this to verify this is the problem by turning off the ignition switch (not LOCK, just off) and remove the TURN-B/U fuse to remove the battery voltage to the solenoid. Don’t run without this fuse or you won’t have turn signals.
