rubber gas line is a great way to start a fire and burn it to the ground

Seriously, Cdowns usually never has anything good to say. Every blue moon he does, but I wish there was a way to block certain users...I get tired of reading his crap all the time in every other thread.

Sure your engine compartment is cleaner and prettier than mine! But your steering wheel is upside down and you have a rubber gas line, so there!

Re: engine compartment and interior pics

First of all, the truck looks great!

I would read up a little online on the rubber lines. From what I've read it's a combination of the new gas w/out lead and with ethanol, etc. and the cheaper rubber....but rubber lines don't last nearly as long. It is a serious issue.

Here's a quote and the website it's from:
http://www.enertechlabs.com/ethanol_in_gasoline.htm
Quote:
We have recently seen several issues of concern that appear to be related to gasoline containing Ethanol (Gasohol).

Blends above 10% are likely to cause problems in vehicles not designed for alcohol. These problems include delamination (chemical breakdown) of rubber, plastic, and synthetic components such as; rubber, plastic, and synthetic hoses, fuel lines, plastic fuel pumps, plastic fuel tanks, fiberglass fuel tanks, fuel tanks that are epoxy coated, or with rubberized, or plasticized liners, and aluminum, copper, brass, or bronze fuel system and injection system components.

FLDAWG, sweet truck...

NGN, that's a "bat-wing" air cleaner originally designed for Cadillacs, Buicks, and Oldsmo-bubbles I believe. They are re-popping them and I'll be putting one on "Boo" eventually.

Seeker, tread lightly...

Re: engine compartment and interior pics

every hotrod i ever had i used rubber, if they start to get funky i change them, but i've never had a probelm and i use pro marine 100 octane gas in it. your right about the ethanol, i deal with it every day. i wish they would go ethanol free all together...Thanks for the concern.....Tom

yea i had a 85 that a rubber line gave way and got gas everywhere luckly i caught it before the boom, so i use steel line with minimal rubber now a piece of 3/8 steel brake line to make your own steel line is only a few bucks looks good too
