How do I install trim?

Im wanting to install the trim that goes around the cab under the back window but how do you do it without the little studs that stick out? Any suggestions?

Re: How do I install trim?

If you don't have access to a spot stud mig you can drill and screw them on with small pan head screws. You might find the right side pan head that will still work as a stud head for the clips. Main thing is to measure from both ends and get a chalk line or better yet a masking tape line across the cab and measure out for the clips. Good luck. Mark

Re: How do I install trim?

one thing the article didnt mentioned was the amount of white clips. As for the corners I think just one of each side.

Re: How do I install trim?

I would just use double sided sticky tape like all of the newer vehicles use. That is what i plan on doing to mine.

Re: How do I install trim?

I added the trim to mine so I can relate to working blind. LOL.

Seriously though, I went to the junkyard and grabbed the parts off a donor and took a bunch of pictures with my phone. You should measure the studs using the back glass opening as a reference. Also measure the distance across and spacing between the studs. Pay close attention to the cab sides and measure 867 times where the side mounting hole is located. The corner trim mounts differently by having a stud go from the trim into the cab side with a nut inside the truck.

The plastic clips, studs and repro trim are all available. I didn't use the studs, I riveted the clips to the cab. I seem to remember the studs being 6-7 bucks each at the time.

There's a nut on the inside, just reach up inside the opening in the pillar. I'm trying to remember the wrench size, 3/8 maybe?

10mm wrench/socket, I took mine off yesterday to clean them up with some NevrDull and took out a few little dings.
