SWB GMC 4x4 Craigslist Finds

Neither of these are mine, but I thought someone in the Oregon / Idaho vicinity may be interested.

This one is in the Boise area. The salesman says it needs shocks, runs like a top, has a bit of rust around the drip rail (shocker) and needs the brake light switch replaced because it sticks and drains the battery. Yup. Those are the things he chose to point out when I called.

This one is over in the Bend, OR area. Didn't send me any additional pictures or SPID information. Just indicated that it is a good running project. I'm going down that way tomorrow so I may take a peek while I'm in town. I'm not sure where he's getting his NADA information from though....

No idea if either of these are true SWB trucks. I'm pretty suspicious of the one on the car lot. The last SWB I saw on a used car lot was shortened, had the rear end out of a mid 90s Chevy, and the wheels were WAY off center in the rear wheel well. Not to mention they painted over a rusted out bed front and threw a plastic bedliner in. And they'd taken the bed off to paint it!

They look like good deals. Nada pricing these old trucks is a joke. There are just to many variables after all these years to standardize pricing. Especially by an association that has no knowledge of them. They need to stick to what they're all about, pricing late models.

Re: SWB GMC 4x4 Craigslist Finds

i've stopped going to nada simply due to the fact that they stopped imputing all the availible options and only put a few in. like on my wife's 72 malibu they only listed the ss package and nothing else. there needs to be another site that has all the options for the classics that you can choose. just my .02. too bad kybb doesn't do anything past 1990 if i remember correctly

Re: SWB GMC 4x4 Craigslist Finds

Ya, the book values seem pretty unreliable. When I bought my 72 4x4 SWB Cheyenne Super last year, the bank would only loan 80% of book value, and I think it only booked for something like $6000. Good luck finding a clean one for that!

You should have stopped and checked it out for me! I'm still waffling between a couple different options on trucks, and I just haven't got over to the Boise area yet... Maybe this weekend...
