Cool Hey what do yall think about my truck

okay i need some opinions on what i need to do with my truck, i use it as a work truck so its not the prettiest. i know it needs a paint job and bed liner but i cant afford those yet. so, for now i got two 7" off road lights. im going to mount them on the bumper when i get a chance. i want to bend some rollcage tubing to make a brush guard on the bumper and get it sprayed with line-x when i get the bed done. i plan on getting a posi for the rear so i can handle some tougher terrain. and i got a 3000 pound winch from harbor freight tools for $50, which i ran a detatchable power wire to the reciever so that i can attach the winch to the reciever hitch and pull stuff in.

its got 33 x 12.5 BFG Mud Terains, on stock (2wd) suspension, they only rub a little when i turn left on a bump. and i put an 88 305 with an edelbrock 600 cfm carb and a set of Summit's headers, that goes trough 2 1/4" exhaust.

ive got a lift kit waiting to put on and i painted the chevy logo border red on the front grille to give it an SS look

check out these pictures:

Re: Hey what do yall think about my truck

OK If this is staying as a work truck this is what i would do. Lift it 2 to 4 inches lift, paint the bumpers black or linex them and paint the mirrors black(so o chrome). Then just accent the chevy emblems. I think this would make the truck look tough with a bumper gaurd.

I would ditch the airfilter. Those are known for melting in to the carb. Other than that I say nice work truck!

Re: Hey what do yall think about my truck

what im starting to slowly learn is,take your time and dont rush if you dont have to on vehicles.
ive done it many times where i rush into a project and try and do a sh@t ton of stuff at once and then i just get burnt out and never wanna see it again haha.
so im taking my time and not looking for instant gratification with my 77
although,i have only owned it about 2 months and already lowered it,and replaced alot of the interior, exhaust, carb, yada yada haha.

Re: Hey what do yall think about my truck

thanks for all the good replies, and btw the car in the background is my 72 plymouth satellite project.

i like the idea of lifting it but i cant find balljoint spacers for less than 80 bucks and i can find cheaper springs.

and if anybody has anyother pics lets see em!

Re: Hey what do yall think about my truck

Ive considered a body lift but i need ground clearance more than i need tire clearance.

As for my 72 satellite i pulled it from a junkyard and stripped it down to what you see, it originally had a 318 with a tq904 transmission. ive got a 440 im building and a 400 thats already built to about 450 hp. ive got plans to do the rest of the car mostly original, except the 8 3/4 rear with 3.23 gears and a posi.

ive got a cardomain for it:

http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2464510

but i need some suggestions for what to do with this truck, anybody have pictures of trucks like mine or had any previous projects?

Re: Hey what do yall think about my truck

Dinos63 put an 88+ 2wd lift in a 65 C-10, you could probably do the same
EDIT FIR MISSPELT NAME AND LINK -> http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=282398

yea ive actually read this thread before and it was where i got my bumper idea from. it has got a badass lift but will all the 88-98 suspesnion really fit? and what does, lets say a 4" lift cost?

if i could get this truck to clear 35" tires i would be very happy

Re: Hey what do yall think about my truck

Looks good... 4" lift spindles (88-98) from Rough Country run about $300 a pair. The rear could be done with a 4" shackle flip from ORD for $189.
The front lift will require a few other items as well such as A-arms and ball joints and such..

I had thought about doing this to my 82 C10 (32" tires) but the frame split on it so it is parked awaiting a frame transplant. This brings up another good point...

Reinforce the frame around the steering box. ORD makes a kit, but I do not know if there is a difference between 4wd and 2wd frames in that area.

Also I hope you have rear geared your rear axle or your trans will forever hate you. It is such a dog in town and has no torque on the highway...

Re: Hey what do yall think about my truck

aint a fan of lifted 2wds just makes no sense to me, don't like the black wheels, grille and parklights. I would do them in silver, maybe leave the parklights but do the headlights too or just use the covers that cover both.

I would ditch the air cleaner too they are bad for dropping in there and it will screw up the carb, just give it time. I ruined a brand new holley 750 with one.

As for the rest of it looks solid and would drive it anywhere.
