Cam Choices For 327

(darn search function being disabled )

Well, I'll be in the market for a cam soon. When I had my truck at the mechanics last time he said the lobes on my cam were pretty worn down. Major power robber So when I get enough money saved up, it's time for a new cam (and while I'm at it, maybe new heads and rods too ).

I seem to remember the Crane Energizer 272 being highly recommended for a 327. Sounds pretty good to me:

Any suggestions?

i wouldnt run that cam in a stock motor with stock heads and a stock convertor it will actually slow you down look for something with under 220 duration @.050 the lunati truck avenger cams are a good grind for a truck unless you plan to do other mods that cam is too big for a truck

Yeah, I'm thinking about the World Products S/R Torquer heads combined with around a 2200 rpm torque converter.

I ran the Energizer 272 in a 327 , with a set of z 28/lt1 castings. the truck had 3.73 gears, & a saginaw 4spd. 216 dur @ .050, & a mid 450s lift gave it a slight cammy sound (more so when cold). that thing pulled like crazy! crazyL

Actually, the Crane cam has a 216 duration @.050.

I personally prefer the old reliable factory 350 horse 327 hydraulic cam that was used in the mid 60's Vettes, Very driveable and they make the little 327 run like a scalded dog. They're still available from GM and Crane also makes a copy of it.
