Re: whats the best valve cover gasket ?
I would use a Felpro metal impregnated gasket, if it were me.

Yep the steel reinforced Fel Pro is what I have had the best luck with.

Re: whats the best valve cover gasket ?
talk about the can of worms you just opened... haha... if installed correctly the cork ones will work great...
but if you are planning on adjusting valves often or taking the covers off more than once or twice a year i'd go with the rubber ones like stated before..

Re: whats the best valve cover gasket ?
Every set of rubber gaskets I ever used leaked. Cork have always worked best for me, but as stated above, they must be torqued correctly.

Re: whats the best valve cover gasket ?
I just had a problem with my valves covers sealing. The covers are stock steel and as flat as a pancake but I still couldn't get them to seal. I finally got these felpros from Summit racing and no more leak!

Re: whats the best valve cover gasket ?
I use the cheaper Felpro set and have had great luck with them. I retighten them ever so often as they settle but I haven't had a leak yet and it's been several months since the install.

Re: whats the best valve cover gasket ?
I've used Skip White's metal core rubber gaskets with success in the past. They even come with new (longer) studs too.
You can find them on eBay.

Re: whats the best valve cover gasket ?
I use the Edelbrock rubber ones that are fiber in the middle. I had to use the thick ones to get my valve covers to fit and not hit the intake. They work really well, but not everbody needs 5/16" thick gaskets.

Re: whats the best valve cover gasket ?
I've tried both rubber and cork and had leaks but I'm also running cheapo covers. Finally bought the spreaders and that did the trick.

Re: whats the best valve cover gasket ?
Use rubber gaskets. Cork is porous and WILL eventually leak.

Re: whats the best valve cover gasket ?
A set of spreaders can help, but not much can overcome a cheap set of chrome covers.
