what are you using for dist. clamp?
Just wondering what to use for a better dist. hold down clamp,I have a b.b and seem to to get a little bit of walk on the timing as time goes by but I don,t want to crank on the hold down bolt too much.I don,t race it so the timing light doesn,t come out to often to check timing.Would the stud type be a better option for a hold down clamp for the dist.

Re: what are you using for dist. clamp?
If you have room, this is the BEST
http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS+Performan...40689/10002/-1 It's steel not aluminum so it doesn't bend and deform, you can file / machine a grid on the bolt pad and the fingers that clamp the distributor collar and it won't slip! AND if you use just a drop of Locktite blue on the stud it is about strong enough to pick up the entire motor (bb or not! :-) ) After loosing a motor because the threads pulled out of the aluminum intake (allowed the distributor to lift off the oil pump drive, but was not so high to disengage the dam cam teeth and it never stopped running, bust blued up every bearing surface in the motor) ,,,, I made it SOP to helicoil the hold down and use a stud. A flimsy hold down will NEVER again find it's way on anything I own. Only big issue with this is clearance. If your using a decked block, raised runner, and need a slip collar distributor to get the drive gear down into the cam,, this thing is THICK steel and could make it a PITA to tighten the hold down bolt. (you don't need to ask how i know that one )
