Tape in Places Tape Shouldn't Be
Hey Everyone,
I'm a 15-year-old boy who is relatively new to 67-72s and fixing up cars in general. I have a 1972 Chevrolet C10 that runs brilliantly, but has tape in places tap shouldn't be. Could anyone please tell me what this tape could be covering up/ fixing? Here are some pictures:

Re: Tape in Places Tape Shouldn't Be
The tape is covering a cracked or broke heater core cover

Re: Tape in Places Tape Shouldn't Be
some one has put the wrong heater core in the truck and the tape is covering up the correct holes and broken or cracked fiberglass i would look into getting a new heater box and the correct heater core

Re: Tape in Places Tape Shouldn't Be
Thanks guys. Do you suggest taking the tape off to find out what's going on or should I leave it and go look for another heater core?

Re: Tape in Places Tape Shouldn't Be
So, I have another question: What kind of gas mileage would I get going 55mph with a 350 and a three speed auto? Haha, I know it's bad, but that's part of the fun.

Re: Tape in Places Tape Shouldn't Be
If it's all in tune and you're not hard on the throttle, maybe 14-15 mpg. If it needs a tune or you're like most of us and like the sound of a 4 barrel making music, maybe as low as 10-11.

Re: Tape in Places Tape Shouldn't Be
You'll need the heater core and the box.Depending on whether your fan works well or not you may need one of those also. You do need to seal the box to the firewall when you replace. The inner fender on the pass side needs to be dropped to get to one of the bolts.

Re: Tape in Places Tape Shouldn't Be
Okay,
I'll probably take the tape off to see what parts I need to find. Thanks everyone, you all have been a big help!
