Re: HELP! 236 straight 6 oil pan removal
If the 235 is anything like my 250, I yanked & pulled on it until I figured something was wrong. After a call to the "Rod-Father", I had to unbolt the two engine mounts, jack up the engine with a 2x4 block brace across the oil pan to distribute the weight, then get two pieces of 2x4 wood block and slide them between the engine & the frame engine mounts to space the engine enough to slide out the pan. I was shocked at how difficult the pan removal was. Good luck

Well I pulled mine off the 230 with no trouble , but then I had the whole crossmember out during the changeover to 71-72 disc brakes

Re: HELP! 236 straight 6 oil pan removal
If I remember right when I built the last 235 /261 the pan comes off easy , it is if you want to change the front motor mount that it is difficult .. there are 2 bolts that hold the plate to the front of the engine that must be accessed from inside the motor with the pan off .. I remedied mine by replacing the bolt and nut deal with 7/16 bolts and drilled and tapped the front main cap to accept them ...then drill the holes bigger on the front motor mount and you never have the problem again , they simply install from the front with the pan on .... Worst case sinario is you may need to jack up the engine ..
