Saw a Jimmy for sale...

The past couple of days I have driven by a 4x4 Jimmy for sale outside of Austin Tx in Dripping Springs. I don't have a pic of it, I don't know the owner, and I haven't even stopped in to look at it. I just thought I would pass along the info I do have. It is orange (hugger I believe), its 4x4, it has rallys but I don't think it was lifted, and it had a black hard top. Beings its sitting at a body shop and had shiny paint I'm assuming it's a new paint job. Here is the info of the shop its at, I'm sure you could call and get more info. Good luck!

Re: Saw a Jimmy for sale...

Not mine either.
I can post pics later when I get them off my phone. Its in decent shape. Paint is not original and definitely not new. Has roller (lifter & rocker) 454. Says 475 horse. Manual trans (4?). AC (aftermarket replaced original), tilt wheel, tach, no back seat in it. Aftermarket radio cut dash. Doesn't look lifted. Has rust bubbles lower doors. It's says it's a 72 Jimmy. I have a pic of the glove box ID. Rocker boxes looked solid. Floors had some patches done. I just gave it a quick once over and took some pics I'll post later. Sign said $7500obo but when I asked the body shop guy, he said it's on consignment, and it's $4000. I'm sure it's got some mud and surprises, but it's got potential.

Re: Saw a Jimmy for sale...

Glad somebody went and checked it out. Did you notice how the big block was installed, as in was the firewall beat in with a hammer? $4000 doesn't sound all that bad unless it is really hiding some monsters...as opposed to the normal monsters that we all assume it has.

Re: Saw a Jimmy for sale...

So is it wrong to post pics of it? Or was I not getting the sarcasm? Its on consignment on the side of the highway with a for sale sign on it. I talked with the guys commisioned to sell it. Figured it might save someone a trip or help someone looking. lmk

Post pictures. There is no problem with taking photos and posting them. If you don't want someone to take pictures of your car, leave it in the garage.

Re: Saw a Jimmy for sale...

I don't think it's any different than posting someones craigslist ad on here. If they put it for sale online or on the side of the road they invite the public to look at it, right???

I agree. You should be able to post any pic you want on the internet that you take while in a public place, roadway or vantage point. I just thought the following thread went too far when all someone was doing was showing some cool pics of some old trucks he saw.

last ones I have. If someone is serious about it, I could go back for more info. It's not exactly on my route, but can.

Re: Saw a Jimmy for sale...

It looked "shiny-er" from the road, but all-in-all not bad. It at least looks to be complete and drivable, more than I can say for most around here that I see for sale.

Looking at it closer, shouldn't the front axle be open knuckle in 72? And SPID says it was an auto??? Looks like there have been some changes made in addition to the big block.

Yeah, just read that thread. Don't want to stir up S.... like that.
But heck, this would be helping the owner sell it, if anything! You get legally shot around here if you go snooping around somebodys property!

Yeah, that's why I took a pic of the axle. Drums too? thought it looked odd. I havent seen one like that before, but I've only had one 1st gen. And mine is a '70 Jimmy and it had some discs on the front installed at some point way back.
