im so freaking lucky!!

so i went to my local napa, looking to see if the owner can price out a 4bbl intake for my 292 and to see how much a 1bbl carb was he had on a shelf. anyways when i asked about the carb he brings me out back to the machine shop and hands me a 235-261inline 6 intake and exhaust, intake modified for 3 1bbl with 2 still attached. i ask how much and he says take it! (the carb for sale was the 3rd missing carb off the intake). i know the intake and exh wont fit my 292 but at least the 1bbl carbs will work till i get that 4bbl intake. i did at least buy the rebuild kit off him for 21$
no actual question here was just excited and wanted to share

Re: im so freaking lucky!!

Great score.

Looks like the pre-monojet carbs. I have seen one that looks like them on a '67 L6 250.

Re: im so freaking lucky!!

yeah they are i believe rochester b's that intake definetly has a build up of welds lol. i was maybe thinking of selling the intake and exh to get my 4bbl intake, but ive got 2 of 3 carbs maybe i should get the 3x1bbl intake....idk yet
i might hang on to them a little before i decide what im doing, maybe i'll have to make a 261 powered hot rod..i was also thinking of just passing them on to who ever needs the manifolds, kinda like a paying it forward thing.

Re: im so freaking lucky!!

lol that's one way to put it, that makes me think of my dads nova he had, over 400hp out of a 327v8 used to lift car off the ground, cresting a hill outside of town when he had it floored.

Re: im so freaking lucky!!

okay so i did some research and it seems these carbs can flow 250-275cfm can anyone concur? i'm assuming the larger carb(barrel wise) will flow the most so im using that one on the 292 for now.
im just wondering if anyone knows a good site on rochester 1bbl carbs? im going to be using the one to the right in the pic, it has a 53 jet now, the left has a 52, will roch, 2 and 4bbl jets swap in if needed? thanks guys
