Check out my new truck

Hello, first time poster here. I'm 16 and have been interested in the 67-72 trucks for a while now. Last week was my birthday and my parents supprised me with a truck of my own. It's a 1969 GMC 3/4 ton camper special with a 350, the exact one I wanted. As you can tell by the pictures it's far from mint for the moment. I am going to start a semi-restoration on it, just doing what I can afford. Check out the pictures and let me know your opinion on what I should do to it(the mirrors are going first). Thanks, I hope this picture works.

Welcome and congrats on your "new" truck! I'ts better than anything I had at 16! Looks like it's pretty straight, so you have a good starting point. Just don't throw away those mirrors, they're probably worth something! Looking at that pic, I'd say get some hood adjusters to straighten the hood, and sand down the rusted spots and primer & paint them. Cosmetics aside, check out all the mechanical stuff - fill or replace all fluids, tune-up if needed, belt & hoses, brakes; make sure all electrical & mechanical things work properly.

And thank your parents! (You already did that, right?)

Nice truck!!! I am 17 and started on my truck in April 2001 when I was 15 and I got it to where it looks decent and it driveable and runs really well but there is always more to do.

Good luck and I know you'll have fun with your truck, as we all do.

Welcome! This is a fun and addicting board, and you'll learn more details about your 69 that you'll probably ever need to know.

My suggestion would be to take care of the mechanical and structural stuff first, and fix any rust problems. Once the foundation is squared away, do the fun stuff!

When I was 16, I had what my high school gym teacher called a "poor man's Porsche" - a Pinto with shackles and 50's on the back! Really... it was cool at the time!

Cool, did you know that you can attach photo into your messages on here instead of using a hosting site. You have exceeded the bandwidth on villagephoto so your pics arent showing up.
