This may be a dumb question but I dont know the answer sooo... is the length of the exhaust between the headers and the muffler and the muffler to the end of the exhaust important. Reason is I want to run my mufflers just behind the cab and have them dump out right there instead of going all the way back. Is this possible or do I need that length of pipe after the muffler?

Re: Exhaust question
personally I feel that if you aren't drag racing everyweekend most exhaust setups work fine. You want backpressure on your exhaust so you dont burn your valves, but the way you want to do yours you should have plenty

Re: Exhaust question
Yeah I just figure if I dont need the rest of the exhaust pipe why have it? I like the whole "less is more" theory.

Re: Exhaust question
I would also check your local laws especially since it looks like you live in "Smog Law CA". While your idea certainly won't make a difference as far as the amount of emissions, your state may have regulations on how an exhaust exits.

Re: Exhaust question
Ya check with local regulations, here in Utah it has to go past the cab of the vehicle by like a foot or so, so if you have a suburban for example you HAVE to run it out the back of the vehicle. trust me we turned my friends 4 Runner exhaust right behind the front tires and within a half hour of driving we had headaches... and that was Fuel Injected.it was like

Re: Exhaust question
get the mufflers past the cab as far as you can, it'll be alot quieter inside the cab!
