I'm puting a new motor in my 69 C30 and I would like to do away with points and condenser. What would be a good source for a new distributor to help me be able to?

Stock HEI is supposed to by pretty good.

Junk yard. Best source. Get one from a pre computer control HEI.

Along the same deal, I have a HEI that was given to me but I need the module (or whatever it's called). Where is the best place to get one. I don't really want Autozone crap.

If you go to the junkyard and get an HEI, look inside the thing and find out the components are bad. So in the long run you could be spending the same if not more for the parts, rather then buy one brandnew already put together and while you stay at home typing responses on our message board...Thats my opinion, but Andy's probably correct.....

There's a company that makes a conversion kit for points distributors -Ignitor maybe? Never used it but have heard good things about it.

The conversion kits are made by Pertronixs, and they are called the Ignitor and the Ignitor II. I have one installed in my '68. They work great. They are extremely easy to install, and they are relatively cheap. Summit, Jegs, P.A.W and just about everyone else sells them. I think they're going to run about $75-80 depending. I've only heard good things about them. Just remember what you're going to have to swap out if you go to HEI. New HEI unit, wires, coil. It can add up quick. Good luck.

Personally, i test every HEI before I leave the junk yard. I just slap it into my engine and see if it runs. If it don't fire the first time, I'll recheck for mistakes, and then walk back in with it and they will give me another. A real good inspection will also let you know if you should buy it or not.
I bought one using this method in 98 with the old longhorn, and other than when the coil went out, it has been trouble free since then. (it is now in the GMC)
Coil was about 20 bucks, and the dist was 10. 5 years, less than 50 bucks... I'm happy.

I bought mine from my local Chevy Dealer. $180 and its complete & polished. Its been in for ~2 years NO problems
