Any sugestions on tying down a 8ft bed on a 6 ft wide trailer? will be about 500 miles on interstate 95. TJ

Upside down, not sideways, and secured with a few rachet straps.

if it has a rail sides on it lay some 2x6 across and on the inside of the rail screw some 2x4 lenght of the trailer on the inside of the rail and this will keep them from going sides ways . turn the bed upside down and strap it down good

yep.....like mentioned above,...just put some timbers...I always use 4x4's, across the trailer and run the bed longways...you will be fine. Check your straps every 100 miles.

On a trailer with sides (6ft) , should I lay one side down on the floor and the other side angle up on the boards or lay board all the way across and then tie bed (6'6")to the top?

I'd put boards across the rails,side to side,and strap the bed upside down on top. Basically,treating it as a flatbed. I'd run the straps front to back to avoid body damage. If you don't have the wide (2.5-3") ratchet straps,I'd invest in some to assure a safe ride home.
