Project '67 454
I’ve been building this truck for several years now and I think it’s about time I start a build thread.
I purchased this truck in 2007 to build for my son. He is currently 7 years old so we’ve got plenty of time to get it done. This truck also means a lot to me because I got it from a friend who has since passed away, so “Canzater” this build is dedicated to you. Below is what the truck looked like when we brought it home and the current status of the build.

Nice truck and very cool your building it for your son. My son and I also have a 68 SWB project for his first truck.

WOW! Sharp looking truck. Sorry about your friend, I'm sure he would be proud of the way it looks now. Great work!

Re: Project '67 454
I'm considering changing over to a big block any thing you had to do different to mount it in there. Were you able to find headers to fit it?

Re: Project '67 454
Nice build. I am in the process of restoring a '71 BB 454. Lot of work and money, but it has been fun.

My motor sits @ 1/2" from the firewall and has the long water pump on it. As for headers I had flowtech longtubes (68-87 truck) on there for awhile and they fit with no issues. I took them off and now have Patriot 3/4 Chevelle headers on there. If possible get all the brackets, pulleys, etc. with the big block as they are all different than the small block. Also, you'll want to use a 4-row radiator.

I've test driven the truck through the neighborhood and it runs and pulls fine. My 454 is relatively mild so it may hold up, if not I will probably go with a 700R4 or 2004R. If you use your Turbo 350 you may need to get a dual pattern flywheel to connect to the torque converter of the T350.
