add a leaf for 1959 pickup

Does anyone know if there is a add a leaf kit or another way to carry a heavier load for a 1959 pickup? Thanks

I'm sure they still have helper springs. Start with a place like JC Whitney. And I suppose you could just ad a spring or two as well. Or you could add airbags, they make some just for that purpose, to help with the weight and level the load out.

Hellwig http://www.hellwigproducts.com/ Probably has something that will work but they don't list one specifically for that truck. There is usually a place in most towns that sells their stuff though. They have the add a leaf and the axillary air bag setups that are overloads.

I packed quite a bit of weight in my stock 1/2 ton by adding standard air shocks. In the attached pic I have a about 750 pounds with camper and stuff inside and you can see it is sitting level even with two adults, two kids and full tank of gas. One time I ran it over the dump scales at over 6K (lots of concrete debris in the back), it was down a little bit in the back and it still had not bottomed out. When you don't need the lift you can air them down and they work like stock shocks.
