83 carbed 305 sending unit

Its raining outside pretty good otherwise I wouldn`t even ask this but my fuel gauge doesnt read correctly, put 6 gallons in it and it shows barley 1/4 tank. Should read closer to half tank with dual tanks. Anyway, looked them up and they aren`t too expensive but is there a quick way to tell if I have a 2 outlet or 3 outlet without dropping the tanks? I`d just go look but The rain is keeping me indoors today. Thanks.

The space right behind the cab and the front of bed looks right down onto the sender or at least it does on the 80. Mine has 3 outlets and I have a carb'd 350.

Hope that helps

I would check the ground on the sender first.. I know this will cause the gauge to read off.

Anthony... if you fill it up, what does the gauge read?

The one in my 82 would read WAY over full.....

I know what you mean. I`ve put $60 bucks in it this week and not even sure I needed to.

I haven`t filled it up yet so I don`t know. It seems to work but the lady I got it from said that once it got down to 1/8-1/4 tank its time to fill up cuz the gauge is off. I`ll check the ground before i buy new sending units. I know the dual tanks are 16 gallons each but I only use one of them. Half tank would be about 8 gallons so I figured 6 gallons would get me close to half tank but didnt. I think I`m going to fill up the one tank today and see how much it takes to fill it and what the gauge reads.
