Weekend Progress
Well I got new dual exhaust & the front end aligned first thing Saturday morning. Sounds much better. I just used some old school 'sonic turbos' & had them tuck it up as close to the frame as possible & it dumps just after the rear end.
Left there & went by the guys house in my subdivision to swap bumpers & found out that on burbs, the rear frame rails roll around . . ..... but on trucks, the rails are cut off square. Since my bumper mounted on the inside of the rails, this would be a slight hurdle. So, back to his door to see if he wanted me to just bolt his bumper back up . . . .... or . . .... I could take the burb to my house & whack the ends of his frame so my bumper would work. He said 'If you don't mind the extra work . . ....". I've met some nice people before, but this guy is something else! So, off to my house a couple blocks away, & 10mins later w/the sawzall, I'm bolting my bumper to the burb. I re-bundled all his trailer lights & tie-wrapped them every 4" so they looked real nice & verified that they worked (using my car trailer), then returned it back to him. He said he's getting another burb sometime next week for parts (a whole 76ish burb for $150/supposedly in great shape) & that when he's finished pulling the body parts he needs, I'm welcome to the rest. So, now my refinished bumpers are mounted front & rear (minus the inner rear brackets), & I cleaned up/detail painted the license plate box . . .... man, what a difference! I placed my order today w/ChevyDuty for some new GM mirrors, delux GM L/R tail-lenses, rear inner bumper brackets, & a couple of new small bumper bolts to finish it up. I love it when things just click along. I just ordered my wheel locks & some Bell Tech shackles from Summit, so I should be busy next weekend too . . ....
