Anyone ever use later master cylinder/booster?
I have a wrecked 1999 1/2 ton chevy truck which I have been robbing parts from to suppliment my buildup of my 69 swb,(serpentine setup, gas filler door,cargo light, etc.). I've been eyeballin' the master cylinder/ booster unit, and wondering what it would take to fit it up. Tucked up against the wall as it is, it looks might open up some room underhood. Has anybody installed this type of setup?

From the pictures I was able to view online of the part in question, the booster has studs that stick out from the back. Is that right? If so it seems like it would be hard to mount it to the firewall seeing as how there are already four studs there.

If I knew it would work, I wouldn't mind removing the studs from my firewall and just bolting it up from under the dash as it is in the 99. I thought I seen somewhere on this forum where somebody crosscut a piece of 2x4x1/4 wall tubing then bolted the booster to the tubing and tubing to the firewall. I will probably end up going that route, but the booster looks much better tucked in against the firewall. Decisions, Decisions.

Contemplating the very same deal myself right now. I have a relatively new b ooster on my wrecked 97 I can use on my 69. Some have said being flush on the firewall the shift linkage will interfere with it. Maybe just a little adjustment will take care of that.

I used a 73-87 style booster and M/C in mine... I had to modify the bracket slightly and drill a few new holes and also lengthen the rod that hooks to the pedal but it fits real nice. A am also using a 73-87 front cross member and brake set-up so it made sense (to me anyway) to use the new style set-up.
I am using a cable shift linkage now but originally I had the rod-style and it didn't interfere on my truck.

Thank you Chevytruckluver for posting Captainfabs website. Thats basically what I was looking for. The 1999 booster seems a bit thinner and wider, with a plastic reservoir and aluminum M/C.. All the posts so far have shown 98 and earlier M/C's. I would guess the M/C piston bore would be pretty close to what my truck needs being as it is pressurizing basically the same size slave cylinders.I will post a picture of the 1999 M/C come next daylight.
