T5 Swap?

Has anyone put a T5 in a 73-87? My truck is done with hauling and towing now, its serving as a DD.

I've only been able to find info on a straight 6 swap, my truck is a 350 and I'm guessing there are differences between the jobs, just looking for some advice. Its currently a SM465.

Re: T5 Swap?

I know Mustang guys that have rebuilt them to hold up to some pretty good hp numbers. My 350 is the 290hp gmpp crate, stock with a quadrajet and headers, thats about it. I have no real plans to do too much to the engine anytime soon so I should be fine, ya?

I've ran mustang T5's on 400hp + applications for summers upon summers without issue.

The only people who say they're weak, are the one's who can't drive.

I run non-WC T5's in all of my mustangs. I also run 4cyl T5's too.

i put about 5 t-5 behind a 400 that i built not too crazy power wise about 300 or so and it ate all of them. two of them actually split the case.

Re: T5 Swap?

Hmm maybe its the torque they can't keep up with. Anyone know how much work it'd be to throw a WC in a Chevy?

Re: T5 Swap?

Yeah, I'm curious to know if a fox body Mustang T-5 would bolt to a GM bellhousing. There seem to be hundreds of Ford T-5s for every one GM version.

I've got a 90's T-5 behind the 351 in my Cougar, and from my experience, it works juuuuuust fine! Having an overdrive manual with a hopped-up V8 is loads of fun.
