Rancho Steering stabilizer question

I am putting a new steering stabilizer on my 72 K10 project (Dana 44) and the Rancho website is showing the correct one for my truck to be a different style than what came off it. The one that was on there (and im 95% sure the axle is original) looked like just a normal shock turned on its side. The one rancho is showing me looks like a shock with both ends pointy. Can anyone help clarify this perhaps with a part number that has worked for you in the past?

What Rancho is showing:

Re: Rancho Steering stabilizer question

I also am interested in this as I would like add one to my truck. I have the tab on the axle so the stud in the second picture with the u-bolts from the top should be correct. I just dont want a white shock as my bilsteins are brushed. maybe 4whelparts has something on their web site.

You are correct, the shock like you have pictured at the bottom is the replacment for the factory setup using the GM brackets you already have on your axle. The Rancho double stem setup is more of a universal application, it comes with its own brackets. I dont know why rancho does this...I'll bet they have a double eye 50/50 shock that will work on our trucks but you may have to find a parts guy that can do some digging for you to find it.
I have run and like the Monroe Magnum stabilizers, if your not stuck on having a rancho you might try one of these part numbers. SA1933 SC2916

Re: Rancho Steering stabilizer question

Rancho does sell the correct one to fit in the original location, that one is just a "universal" add-on type.
