Cluster Gauge Needles/Pointers

I am trying to find the plastic 81 and newer small gauge needles/pointers for my 87 1/2ton. I really hate to try and pull another used one. They are all so brittle anymore. Does anyone know where I might be able to find new ones? I have checked with the local speedometer shop and all he has and can get for some reason are the older metal style ones.

Since they were never availible seperate from the gauges, and the gauges themselves are long since discontinued (might get lucky once in a while and stumble upon a dealership that still has some N.O.S. parts collecting dust on their shelves) the only place other than LMC to get the gauges would be a wrecking yard.

Re: Cluster Gauge Needles/Pointers

well that sucks. especially since its the oil pressure gauge needle that broke and it has proven impossible to find another electrical gm 80 psi gauge. I can find a ton of 60 psi ones. maybe i can get the needle off of one of those. I was installing white face overlays onto my gauges when the needle broke. Oh, in case no one knows this here in Kansas City, Mo we have a place that used to be called Chevy Duty but due to reasons that I am unsure of Gm made them change their name and the now call themselves Classic Parts of America. They sell almost everything for 1947-1998 Chevy trucks as well as some other gm vehicles now. Unfortunately they do not have the needles available separately nor do they have an 80 psi gauge. Thanks everyone, Ill keep digging.

Pretty sure it's supposed to have a 60psi oil gauge. My 87 1/2 ton has a 60, my painters 88 k5 has one and all the extra gauges I have (89 suburban) are 60.

Re: Cluster Gauge Needles/Pointers

Yep, it is an 80 psi gauge. I have two of them, one in my 82 blazer and one in my 87 1/2 ton. both are from 3/4 ton diesel suburbans. I had the same problem with maxing the 60 psi gauges and almost went with custom aftermarket setups but stumbled across the 80 psi in a salvage yard.
