Question De-code my axle please.

New (to me) C10 that has been touched more than a few times so I'm trying to figure out just what it has in it since the PO had now idea.

The pass side axle tube code is: RHA W 146 1

If you have a GM truck parts book, vintage '78 print date, starting on page 61and continuing to page 68, it has a complete rear axle id chart with ratios per the code. VA72C10 pm me your axle codes and I'll look'em up.

Re: De-code my axle please.

There used to be a website I used, but it is no longer functioning.. It just happened to be I had copied a few down when I was looking for a few of my codes..
If you can find a Hollander interchange manual that covers our years, It also has the infomation

Here are the few I have
RHA= 1972 3:07.1
RHC= 1971 3:73.1
THC = 1971 3:73.1
You can also go to GMC pauls website for 67/68 codes

Re: De-code my axle please.

Are these codes stamped in the housing? If so approx. where and are they on the front or rear side of axle.

Mine are on the right tube, top of the axle.

Re: De-code my axle please.

Mine were on the passenger side tube located forward, towards the top, right in the middle of the tube.

Re: De-code my axle please.

So here is a pic of mine just where you said it would be. Stamped in passenger side tube in the middle towards the top. So I take it just means it's a 1972 with 307 gears because of the "RHA". Do the other numbers mean anything.
